While mass shootings usually make headlines and capture the public’s attention, far more young lives are lost to gun violence in separate incidents, a new report indicates.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, 209 U.S. children have been killed or injured by guns since the start of 2019. In the last two days alone, two 4-year-old children have died in gun-related incidents.
The first occurred Sunday in Ohio after the son of a state trooper found his dad’s gun and accidentally shot himself in the face. The second happened Monday in Peoria, Illinois when an unknown gunman opened fire on a group of people in a parking lot. A young boy was among two people who were killed.
