9 Killed, 32 Injured in Weekend Shootings in Chicago

It was business as usual over the weekend in Chicago, where nine people were killed and 32 were injured in gun violence.

Although a majority of the fatal attacks occurred on Saturday, the first happened at 6 p.m. Friday when a 31-year-old man was shot in his head and chest, police say. Saturday’s victims included a man who was standing on his back porch; a 27-year-old man who was among five people struck by bullets in a drive-by shooting; two men who were shot while riding in a car; and a 57-year-old man who was gunned down while standing in front of the New Parie Hotel on the West Side, according to police.

After a 22-year-old was killed on the West Side Sunday, the weekend violence concluded in the early afternoon when the occupants of two vehicles fired at each other, leaving two dead.
