(CHICAGO) Disturbing news about how Chicagoans feel about their city, and about Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
A new survey by The New York Times and the Kaiser Family Foundation found that only 25 percent of Chicagoans think Emanuel is doing a good job.
Overall, 62 percent of Chicagoans disapprove of Emanuel’s job performance. For Chicago’s African Americans, that number is 70-percent.
Emanuel’s approval ratings have taken a nosedive since the November release of a police dashcam video showing a white officer killing black teenager LaQuan McDonald by shooting him 16 times.
The new poll shows that only 12 percent of black Chicagoans think the police department is doing a good or excellent job. 47 percent of white Chicagoans feel that way about the police.
