Rauner Will Fight For Workers Pay

By Nick Gale, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) Disappointed that Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is seeking to suspend pay for state lawmakers until there is a budget agreement in Springfield, Gov. Bruce Rauner is fighting back.

Rauner says his administration will use all legal options available to make sure state employees get paid. In a letter to workers, Rauner says they will fight the lawsuit.

“This is going to hurt working families, the good hard working employees of Illinois who deserve to be paid who deserve to stay working. The people of the state need our state employees to continue working,” Rauner said.

Senate Democratic and Republican  leaders have been working on a “great bargain” budget. Legislative leaders are worried that the timing of Madigan’s action could crate and unnecessary crisis and derail compromise.
