Bernie Sanders Says US Should Follow NZ Lead On Gun Control

Less than one week after the deadly mosque shooting that took 50 lives, New Zealand’s government passed sweeping gun control measures that banned military-style and semi-automatic weapons along with high-capacity magazines.

Democrat Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders believes that the US should do the same to reduce gun deaths in America, which the UK Independent says reached up to 35,000 in 2017.

“This is what real action to stop gun violence looks like. We must follow New Zealand’s lead, take on the NRA and ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons in the United States,” the Vermont Senator tweeted on Wednesday.

According to the Associated Press , New Zealand’s law went into effect immediately in an effort to stop stockpiling efforts.
