Lawmaker Catches Major Backlash For Criticizing Nurses

Washington state Senator Maureen Walsh just learned an important lesson about politics – don’t you dare talk smack about nurses.

Walsh has apologized for comments she made during a legislative session last week when she suggested that nurses in rural hospitals “probably play cards” during their shift.

Walsh took major heat for her comment, including a petition that garnered over 650,000 signatures calling on her to follow a nurse for a 12-hour hospital shift.

Walsh apologized on Monday, saying her comments came “in the heat of argument” and that “I wish I could reel it back”, adding that her mother was a RN.
