Coronavirus Death Toll Surges Over The Weekend

It was a bad weekend for the coronavirus outbreak, with the death toll soaring to more than 900 and the number of confirmed cases surging over 40,000.

Sunday alone saw 97 deaths reported in China, the largest single-day total since the outbreak began in late December. All but two of the 908 total deaths have taken place inside mainland China.

While the disease has yet to spread widely outside of China, the World Health Organization warns that the 330+ cases reported in other countries could be “the tip of the iceberg”.
