Airports Warn Of Real ID Deadline Chaos

Those who haven’t updated their identification to one that is Real ID compliant by October’s deadline will find themselves turned away from their flight.

According to NBC News , just 34 percent of people have made the change, which means the remaining will be forced to travel with a passport, military ID or Global Entry card.

Complicating the matter, several states aren’t able to keep up with the demand of issuing the new document, while some haven’t even started.

Speaking to the network, Airports Council International-North America President and CEO Kevin Burke says “this is a crisis waiting to happen,” adding that the government should extend the transition period.
