As the pandemic has more of us turning to video games to ease lock down boredom, research firm NPD Group reported Friday that U.S. consumer spending on video games jumped to a record 10.9 billion in the first quarter of 2020. That’s a 9% spike from last year.
Sales haven’t just soared in the U.S.; Poland-based game developer CD Projekt’s stocks surged by 75% in mid-March. China’s Tencent Holdings also saw it’s online gaming sales spike by 31% in the first quarter.
