It must have been a hectic evening at the Louisville Jail Friday after 76 protestors were arrested for blocking a main roadway.

The mass arrests occurred shortly after 5 p.m. EST on Market Street, where demonstrators reportedly set up barriers — blue barrels filled with water, urine and bleach — to stop vehicles from using the main thoroughfare, police say. Officers began taking people into custody after they failed to comply with orders to clear the street, a police spokesman says.

The arrested protestors are each facing charges of obstructing a highway and disorderly conduct, police say.
