(LaSalle, IL) — An investigation is expected to continue today in LaSalle after a massive fire erupted at a chemical plant Wednesday morning.
At one point, nearby residents were asked to stay in their homes.
Videos going viral on social media show the large fire and smoke pouring out of the plant which is located about 94 miles southwest of Chicago. There were also reports of explosions.
Officials Wednesday warned residents to avoid green residue that had been seen in the area.
The fire caused significant damage to the plant. The EPA says they are monitoring conditions.
