(CHICAGO) — Some big layoffs could be coming to Chicago based McDonalds.

A report says the fast food giant has temporarily closed its U.S. offices as the company prepares to inform employees about layoffs.

The Wall Street Journal cited an internal email saying corporate staff and some overseas employees should work from home while the company notifies people of their job status.

Staffing decisions are expected to happen this week and are said to be part of a wider restructuring of the company.

So far McDonalds has not commented.

Though the U.S. labor market remains strong, there have been layoffs but mostly in the tech sector.

McDonald’s has more than 150,000 employees in corporate roles with about 70-percent of those outside of the United States.
