Toews Out, Future Unclear

(CHICAGO) — The Chicago Blackhawks are parting ways with their longtime captain.
Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson announced this morning that the team would not be re-signing Jonathan Toews in the offseason, calling it a “difficult conversation.”

The Blackhawks drafted Toews with the third overall pick in the 2006 NHL Draft and quickly became the team captain, leading the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

The 34 year old has battled health issues this season.
