The air quality in Chicago and across the state has been classified as moderate according to the Environmental Protection Agency and conditions are expected to remain at that level through Sunday. The wildfires hitting the New York area hard and are affecting states as far as North Carolina. Air quality in southern Cook County considered unhealthy for sensitive groups due to high particulate matter in the air and smoke. Those with heart and lung conditions, older adults and children advised to limit their time outdoors if they have a health condition.
