(Palatine, IL) — Palatine High School officials will hold a meeting Tuesday to discuss campus safety after a gun was found this week on school grounds.
A Palatine High School student was arrested on campus Monday and according to a letter sent to parents Thursday, was found to be carrying a gun.
High School District 211 says the school resource officer arrested the student in connection with a non-school case and authorities found the gun after the student had been handcuffed. A search that located the gun was conducted in a secure area of the school.
Because of the secure manner in which the gun was found, no lock down was required and notification to parents was delayed because of the ongoing investigation.
The district will hold a meeting open to parents on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Palatine High School Auditorium to discuss security measures.
