TSA Tweaking Controversial ‘Quiet Skies’ Program

The TSA is tweaking its controversial ‘Quiet Skies’ program that allowed marshals to monitor travelers even if they weren’t suspected of a crime.

Under the program, undercover marshals could observe and report on any traveler identified as a person of interest. That could include actions like talking on the phone, changing clothes, or even going to the bathroom.

Under the new rules, the marshal won’t send a report if the ‘person of interest’ doesn’t do anything on the flight.

Critics of the program say ‘Quiet Skies’ is an invasion of privacy and can lead to racial profiling.
