An Oklahoma man who was convicted of murder in 1991 has been declared innocent and freed after 28 years behind bars.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered the release of 48-year-old Corey Atchison, ruling that a key witness in his murder trial had been coerced.
After the decision, Atchison said “I don’t really know what I want to do, because my goal all these years was just to be free”. He would be eligible for up to $175,000 from the state for his wrongful conviction.
