1st Case Of Coronavirus Confirmed In U.S.

A case of the potentially deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in the U.S. for the first time.

On Tuesday, the CDC confirmed a case of the SARS-like virus in Washington state, in a man who had traveled to the U.S. from Wuhan, China, where the virus initially spread.

The CDC is now screening passengers who fly from Wuhan to New York, L.A., or San Francisco, and will soon begin screening in Chicago and Atlanta.

Nearly 300 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in China and other Asian countries, with six deaths reported so far. Health officials say the virus is contagious, but doesn’t spread as quickly as other viruses like influenza or measles.
