Bridge work to close LSD ramp to Stevenson on Tuesday

(Chicago)  A ramp from Lake Shore Drive to the Stevenson Expressway will be closed during the morning rush Tuesday for bridge repairs.

The closure of the ramp from northbound Lake Shore to southbound (I-55) will last from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A detour will take drivers to 18th Street, where they can turn around and take Lake Shore Drive back south to the expressway, IDOT said.

The closure will allow crews to make bridge repairs, according to IDOT. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra travel time.

State police investigate shots fired on Stevenson Expressway

(CHICAGO) State police are investigating after a woman’s car was struck by a bullet early Friday while she was driving on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) on the South Side.

The car was shot about 1:15 a.m. on the ramp from southbound Lake Shore Drive to the outbound Stevenson, Illinois State Police Trooper Julian Torres said.

One round struck the car, Torres said. The woman, who was the only occupant, was not injured.

Police are investigating where the shot came from, Torres said.
